October 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th, 2007 *REGISTRATION CLOSED*

Hosted by the
LAKEHILL SOCCER ASSOCIATION
Victoria, British Columbia

This year will be the eighth girls soccer tournament for the Lakehill Soccer Association. As in the past the tournament will be open for girls U12-U18. u12G (1996's) teams will play Super8 format while all others will play full field. Metro/Select teams will play up a division. We are hoping to have upwards of 42 teams or more in the tournament this year. Parks used for the games will include Braefoot Park, Reynolds Park, and of course Beckwith Park. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of three games and an opportunity to play a fourth game (i.e. the top two teams in each pool) for a Lakehill Girls Fall Classic Pool Championship! For out of town teams we will not schedule you for Friday night and will try to accommodate the schedule to fit your travel plans. All in all we want to make sure everyone has a great time.

This tournament is sanctioned by the BC Soccer Association only BCSA, CSA and US Soccer sanctioned teams are invited to participate.

For additional info feel free to E-mail me, Robert Kobenter at lakehill2007@yahoo.ca. Take care, and we hope to see you at the Classic!

September 28th Update:

With less than a week till tournament begins we are happy to release the schedule!

This year we have 42 registered teams from u12 to u18 and  also have three Lower Island Soccer League games that are included in the tournament*

As you can expect scheduling is not an easy task and we have taken the individual wishes into consideration as best we could however there have had to be some compromises made in order to consolidate field use , plan for contingencies based on possible weather changes and also to efficiently schedule officials and teams that are traveling from out of town.

Game Locations and Contingencies and Game Officials

Some Victoria based teams from u13-u18 have been scheduled to play on the Friday night Oct 5th at Braefoot Park field#1 and #2. If for any reason these matches have to be rescheduled then we will have to scramble to find time, what would likely happen is that we will put them in the many free spaces we have alloted based on referee availability.

We have scheduled the three LISA league matches to be played on Saturday from 11am-4pm on Beckwith Park (LSA/far field) these will be played in full LISA league length and with officials provided by LakeHill Soccer. All other games will be Tournament length (u13-u18 of 2x25min;u12=2x20) and only the main official will be provided. Each Team will be asked to provide an AR.

Tournament games have been consolidated to be played at Braefoot Park #1 and #2 as well as Reynolds Park. Note that Braefoot#2 has both Full Field 11v11 markings and Super8 ½ field markings both in White. LakeHill Soccer uses Reynolds Park for the mini programme with different field markings we will be requesting field staff to use Yellow lines for the Tournament matches.

In the event that one of the two main fields at Braefoot has to be closed due to weather or poor field condition the backup fields are Beckwith Park. Information on field conditions will be available at the Tournament Office.

Scoring

Tournament Points will be awarded as follows:

  • 3 pts for a win
  • 1 point for a draw
  • 1 point for a shutout
  • 1 point for each goal scored up to a maximum of 5 !

With the exception of the u15 division where a playoff round is necessary the top team in each bracket of a two bracket pool will play in the championship round on Monday, where there is no two bracket pool then the top two teams in a pool will be asked to play the championship match.

The u15 pool has two brackets of three teams meaning that in each bracket team plays two games in their bracket. Then points are tallied and team 1 in the Premier bracket plays team 1 in the Copa bracket. Following that playoff round the top team in each bracket will be invited to play in the Monday Championship round. If a team elects to leave the tournament prior to Monday the next highest point team will be invited to participate.

Basic Tournament Rules

All FIFA rules apply with the exception of game lengths

In the event of a draw there will be no added time or stoppage time both teams will be awarded one point.

The Tourney organizers ask that team officials and fans respect the decisions of game officials, ask the officials to acknowledge substitutions (unlimited) and that game coaches do not ‘ring the field’ but stay within a technical area around their benches.

The schedules only allow for 10 minutes between games so please leave the playing areas quickly following matches so as to allow for the commencement of the next match!

Lights at Braefoot Park automatically shut off at 9.30pm!

There will be a concession stand operating thoughout the tournament and the Tournament Organizers are planning a Saturday/Sunday BBQ.

When you arrive at the park each team will be asked to pick up their tournament package in the Tournament Office at Braefoot Park.

September 14th Update:

With only a few days of tournament registration remaining and some "brackets" not yet with the maximum four teams the scheduler has released the following scheduling notice:

"teams have been grouped based on declared playing level, where a bracket an not be filled with four similar strength teams then the brackets will be reformed based on these guidelines:

* if two teams in Premier and two in Copa then a single bracket of four teams will be formed

* if three teams in both brackets within a Pool then the three teams in will play each other and a points standing will determine the final interlock match of highest vs lowest rankings. The two highest ranked teams in a pool will play in the Monday morning championship match

* if an uneven number of teams in a pool with more teams in one bracket and fewer in the other bracket then a random draw will be conducted for scheduling purposes

* if a team has stated on their registration form that they are willing to be promoted for scheduling purposes then only if there is a need to do so will the promotion occur for scheduling purposes.

* Monday morning championship games are among the top two teams in the pool (not the top team per bracket)!

* Victoria area teams can expect some games to be played on Friday night October 5th between 5.00pm and 9:30pm at Braefoot park 'under the lights'.

* please ensure your team is confirmed and your payment has been received by September 21st.

The tournament schedule will be released once all teams have been contacted and attendance has been confirmed (likely Sept 25th) a tentative schedule may be posted earlier.

Please send all questions and comments and specific scheduling requests to the tournament organizer at: lakehill2007@yahoo.ca
