The club Registrar receives numerous player registration questions, answer to most can be found on the Youth Registration page or on the FAQ page. But the most common question we hear is: 'What is a Grandfathered Player?"

The Lower Island Soccer Association defines a Grandfathered player as either:

1a) A (female) player who was registered to a LISA member club team in the 1992/1993 season can continue to play for the club she was registered to in 1992/1993.

1b) A sibling of a grandfathered player can also obtain Grandfathered player status.

2) A player shall be considered grandfathered if they can prove that prior to having resided outside of the clubs boundary area they resided within the catchement, and have continued to play for the same club.

That means that if a player started at Lakehill at  (for example) u7, resided inside our boundary area, then, the family moved outside to a different clubs boundary area but continued to play at Lakehill they would be eligible to claim 'Grandfathered' status as defined in LISA rule 13.3.

NOTE 1: Lakehill requires a GRANDFATHERED PLAYER form for each season at the time you register. The form is available HERE.

NOTE 2: A common misconception is that "out of catchment" players can request grandfathered status if they have been with the club for a prolonged period of time. This is not permitted by LISA rule 13.3

NOTE 3: A 'Released' player is one that has been granted permission by LISA to play at a different club for the period of one season, after that season they are to return to their in-catchment club and re-register.

NOTE 4: Only three "club to club" transfers are permitted per team unless LISA has granted a special exemption. This special exemption is usually only granted once a club submits a request and is adjudicated by LISA at a club registrars meeting, no one should assume that because they have been granted additional transfers in past seasons it will happen again!

NOTE 5: A 'Coaching Exemption' is not a transfer and can be revoked as a result of a vote by the LISA Club Presidents prior to season begin.
